Went for the annual craft show. It's nice, variety of items. Food was all of their options so burgers, steak bites, chicken strips. It was good but a little pricy. Only Coke options. A place this big should offer more. Entertainment on both sides of the pond. Swan paddle boat available to take a stroll around the water. Overall, definitely worth the experience
I took my family there to learn about Amish culture and see an Amish farm but unfortunately there is pretty much nothing to see there if you would like to learn about culture and how they live. There was a pony ride first which is basically just riding pony without any information how it is used or what importance it has. After that we took the farm tour. 2 young girls were our guides and one of them took us to old Amish school and just read the notes from flash cards in her hand. Some visitors asked about Amish culture and she had no idea about them and she started talking about her experiences in the farm and talked about some of the rude visitors and a lot more non sense teenage drama that we have no intentions to learn about. Basically we wasted a day and our money to go there. Store was ok, but everything was little pricey. I wasn't expecting everyone in the farm would be Amish but at least a tour guide can be Amish or at least has some knowledge about the culture. Note: This is only for regular ticket with pony ride. I didn't go to restaurant or theater so I don't have anything to say about them.
My husband and I are staying at the Inn at Amish Acres. We are in a King Suite with a Jacuzzi tub for my Birthday. So far dinner at the Restaurant was delicious, especially the country chicken and Apple Dumpling, the service was a bit slow although they were very friendly and we did eventually get everything we wanted. We then saw The Little Mermaid at the Round Barn Theatre. We enjoyed the show and thought the performers did pretty good. Would have been more comfortable if they had better chairs....metal fold-out chairs with a 2" cushion lined up side-by-side just isn't good enough. After a 2 hour show my back hurts and I'm happy to finally be able to move my arms. The show was worth it though...it's just not real comfortable, especially for bigger or older people. We have not visited the other buildings in Amish Acres yet. Maybe next time we are here we will get to do more stuff.
The Round Barn Theatre has very talented actors, some of which are friends of mine and others who were even in original casts on Broadway. However, the quality of the productions is very low. The actors themselves have to do set changes and those sets are very minimal, which works in shows like "Our Town" or anything Shakespearean, but not most modern/contemporary shows. Plus they use tracks instead of hiring a band, which even the local high school does for their musicals.
Always a great dinner. We go to the theater every year for Christmas. We do breakfast with santa also. Sadly this year the breakfast seemed to be less than what we've had in the past 6 years. The food was not as good nor the variety. It seemed very rushed along. We may not be back for that part next year.
